Small and long non-coding RNAs in mammalian oocytes

Our primary research interest is understanding molecular mechanisms governing control of gene expression during mammalian oocyte-to-embryo transition (OET). Our lab explores two aspects of gene expression control during OET: (I) maternal RNA metabolism and (II) functional contribution of small and long non-coding RNAs. We are particularly interested in the evolution of small RNA pathways in the female germline and regulatory roles of RNA interference.

Keywords: Oocyte-to-embryo transition / maternal mRNAs / genome activation / retrotransposons / long dsRNA / RNA interference / microRNA
