Our goal is to unravel molecular mechanisms that underlie epigenetic reprogramming in vivo. We are using early mouse zygotes, where global DNA demethylation proceeds shortly after fertilisation, and mouse primordial germ cells (future gametes) that undergo both genome-wide DNA demethylation and widespread chromatin remodeling prior to onset of sex differentiation. Understanding these processes will alllow us to understand cell fate plasticity.
