Our research is mainly concerned with the development of the vascular system and relies strongly on inducible and tissue-specific genetic approaches in the mouse. Our work has provided insight into key processes controlling developmental blood vessel growth and, in particular, its regulation by Notch, VEGF and Eph/ephrin signaling. The specialization of blood vessels and vascular cells in different organs is another focus of our research.
