Learning, memory, navigation and communication

We study the neural mechanisms of olfaction, vision, learning, memory formation, navigation and communication in an social insect, the honeybee. Neural recordings are combined with behavioral analyses. Our main emphasis lies on the elucidation of neural processes leading to sensory coding, experience-dependent plasticity and decision making.
