The Oliveira lab studies how chromosome architecture contributes to faithful chromosome segregation. We aim at understating how mitotic chromosomes are assembled and how their structure influences several processes involving the DNA molecule (e.g. transcription). In parallel, we aim to uncover how failures in these processes impact on mitotic fidelity, cell physiology, organism development and human disease.
