Molecular basis of bacterial biofilm formation

Our research focuses on the signal transducing mechanisms and regulatory networks that underly bacterial stress responses and biofilm formation of commensal and pathogenic Escherichia coli. This includes molecular control of transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene expression, second messenger-mediated signal transduction (c-di-GMP) and regulated proteolysis, which are all linked in a systems perspective of bacterial regulatory circuits.
