Macromolecular complexes in adaptive immunity

The adaptive immune system has evolved sophisticated ways to detect and eliminate malignantly or virally transformed cells; a malfunction can lead to chronic infection and autoimmunity. We explore the cellular pathways and macromolecular machineries in antigen processing. We illuminate the structure and mechanism of membrane translocation, MHC-I chaperone and ER quality control complexes, also in the context of viral immune evasion.
