Proteostasis in the early secretory compartment

Our lab investigates how the early secretory compartment couples efficiency and fidelity in the biogenesis of complex proteins, antibodies in particular. Are protein synthesis, transport and degradation acting as signals that control plasmacell differentiation and death? Modulating ER proteostasis and stress may offer new therapeutic strategies in amyloidosis and ER storage diseases, as well as in multiple myeloma and other secretory cancers.
