My lab works on decisions of cell fate in the context of development and stem cells in the postnatal animal. The main systems we study are sex determination and gonadal differentiation, the central nervous system and the pituitary/hypothalamus. The role of Sox genes in these processes provides a common focus, although these are also used to provide an entry point to study other aspects of the systems in which they are expressed.
