We wish to understand how plants sense and respond to environmental signals. We use systems biology to dissect nitrogen nutrient signaling and response gene networks. We are also using ecological genomics to understand the mechanisms that allow wild plant species to survive the extreme conditions of the Atacama Desert. Success in our endeavor should power new biotechnologies to improve nitrogen (N) use efficiency in plants and face climate change.
