Our lab of microbial genomics and systems biology focuses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms providing bacteria with protection against phages, known as the 'immune system' of bacteria. We study the CRISPR-Cas system, as well as new anti-phage defense systems we discovered. We also study how phages can communicate in order to coordinate their infection dynamics. An additional focus of the lab is RNA-mediated regulation in microbes.
