My group is investigating general principles underlying protein folding and assembly in vivo and in vitro. Specifically, we are investigating the mechanism of catalyzed disulfide bond formation during oxidative folding of secretory proteins, the catalyzed assembly of adhesive pili from uropathogenic bacteria, the assembly mechanism of bacterial, pore-forming toxins, and the role of amyloid beta fibril formation in Alzheimer’s disease.
