We aim to understand how cells steer a path from pluripotency towards lineage commitment. We study how local communication between individual cells coordinates cell fate decisions, and how changes in adhesion and tissue morphology modulate differentiation during early development. We also ask whether the mechanisms that coordinate differentiation during development also influence pathological cell behaviours in adult tissues.
