Our research focuses on understanding the principles of stem cell niche and tissue self-organization, and how mechanical forces and cellular interactions integrate single cell behaviors to pattern multicellular tissues. We are particularly interested in the ability of nuclei and chromatin to sense and respond to mechanical forces to regulate cell state. We further study how perturbations in these processes lead to disease such as cancer.
