My group studies chromatin signaling linked to the act of RNA polymerase II transcription. We follow the hypothesis that co-transcriptional epigenetic signals provide an important model to interpret functions of non-coding DNA. In particular, we are investigating in yeast and plant systems how non-coding gene isoforms confuse chromatin-based genomic punctuation that underlies gene expression.
