Our aim is to characterise stem cells and their progeny during embryonic and postnatal development of skeletal muscle. We investigate gene regulatory networks governing stem cell emergence, and the cell lineage lineage with particular focus on transcription factors and signaling pathways. We also investigate how stem cells self-renew, essentially via symmetric vs. asymmetric cell divisions, and how the niche is defined.
