Organelle biogenesis has been a theme throughout my career, and currently my group is studying the process of autophagy, an essential cell survival process. We aim to understand where and how autophagosomes form in response to nutrient and amino acid starvation. We focus on several essential 'Atg' autophagy proteins, and aim to understand their localization and function in the process of autophagosome formation, and autophagy.
