Our lab studies cell growth and chromosome dynamics in non-model prokaryotes. In particular, using bacteria obligatorily associated with animals, we want to identify cell biological features necessary for the establishment and maintenance of microbial symbioses. Moreover, extending cell biology to non-model prokaryotes can deepen our understanding of how fundamental processes, such as cell growth and chromosome segregation, evolved.
