My group aims to understand how ubiquitin – a single, small protein – achieves specificity in regulating all aspects of eukaryotic cell biology. A major key lies in the dynamic macromolecular interactions of ubiquitin ligases, the most diverse class of ubiquitination enzymes. We thus explore macromolecular ligase complexes at the structural and functional levels to identify gateways for therapeutic interference with ubiquitin signaling.
