Our research concentrates on the molecular understanding of fundamental cellular processes. We are interested in membrane homeostasis in eukaryotic cells, the molecular details of muscle contraction and the mechanism of action of bacterial toxins. Our overarching goal is to understand these processes in the healthy and diseased organism in molecular detail using structural and molecular biology techniques, in particular electron cryomicroscopy.
Keywords: Structural biology / electron cryo-microscopy / actomyosin complex / muscle contraction / bacterial insect toxins
