The underlying theme of research is to find rules and chemical logic in metabolism. We want to understand how metabolism functions as an ultimate form of biological information flow. For this, we study how some metabolites are formed, are sensed, and signal mechanistically within and between cells. We also try to understand systems-level principles of metabolic network organization, and the evolution of metabolic pathways.
