My work concerns the mechanisms of signal transduction and gene expression that underlie immunity and oncogenesis. After the original discovery of two cytokine genes, the IFN-beta and IL-2 genes, we also discovered the IRF family of transcription factors, which play integral roles in the regulation of immunity and cancer. We also work on Damage-Associated Molecular Patterns (DAMPs) for their roles in inflammation-associated diseases and cancer.
