Physiology and pathology of ion transport

My laboratory is investigating ion transport processes across the outer and intracellular membranes of mammalian cells. Our work stretches from the structure-function analysis of ion channels over the elucidation of their cellular roles (like vesicular trafficking and cell volume regulation) to the organismal level. We discovered several ion channel diseases and use genetically modified mice to analyze the underlying physiology and pathology.
