Distributed temporal activity in neuronal circuits of prefrontal cortex and hippocampus combines emotional information with episodic and spatial memory to guide behavioural action. The cerebral cortex consists of diverse neuronal types with distinct synaptic connectivity. We aim to determine how identified GABAergic interneurons and pyramidal cells contribute to the formation of cell-assemblies and representations supporting cognition.
