Mitochondria are dynamic organelles that adapt to different physiological demands and stress in a tissue- and cell-type specific manner. Our group analyses the role of mitochondrial plasticity in ageing and disease. Focusing on mitochondrial proteases as key determinants of organellar proteostasis, we study the dynamic behavior and metabolic flexibility of mitochondria at the interface of cell death and inflammation.
