Cell and tissue mechanics

We are interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms of tissue cohesion and plasticity. We focus our research on epithelial tissues, which form a robust barrier and are profoundly remodelled. Tissue growth and shape changes during morphogenesis require remodelling of cell contacts. We study how tissue level dynamics/cohesion emerges from the generation and transmission of adhesive and tensile forces at the cellular scale.
