My group investigates the regulation of protein homeostasis from molecular mechanisms to physiology and disease. We particularly focus on the ubiquitin/proteasome-system using C. elegans as model organism. We employ innovative in-vitro and in-vivo protein degradation assays, microscopical, optogenetic, and chemosensation methods, which allow the identification of conserved, tissue-specific and organismal protein homeostasis mechanisms.
Keywords: Ubiquitin chain formation / protein homeostasis / protein aggregation / mechano-stress & muscle function / organismal regulation / aging / chromatin-associated degradation
