My lab is interested in 1. the mechanism by which proteins are transported across or inserted into the endoplasmic reticulum membrane in eukaryotes and the cytoplasmic membrane in bacteria; 2. the mechanism by which misfolded ER proteins are transported back into the cytosol for degradation (ERAD); 3. the mechanism by which the endoplasmic reticulum adopts its characteristic shape; 4. the mechanism by which proteins are imported into peroxisomes
