We have been studying biomolecular machines by a hybrid methods approach (light, electron and scanning probe microscopy, X-ray crystallography, molecular cell biology and protein design), focusing on the cytoskeleton, nucleocytoplasmic transport, and protein fibrillation. The group has also worked on novel optical and mechanical nano-sensors and -actuators for diagnostics, prevention and therapy by minimally invasive local interventions.
Keywords: Structure & function of cytoskeletal proteins & their supramolecular assemblies / nuclear pore complex structure & nucleocytoplasmic transport / amyloid / light, electron & scanning probe microscopy
