Viruses have world-wide impact. We focus on the infection biology of viruses by taking a dual approach, system-wide analyses of infection phenotypes, and reductionist studies to tackle molecular mechanisms. How do viruses enter cells, control membrane functions, cell metabolism, death, or innate immunity to support progeny formation and transmission between cells? We hope to enhance vectors in gene therapy, and design new anti-viral agents.
