Infection biology and virulence evolution
My lab studies the infection biology of Salmonella Typhimurium, a key cause of foodborne illness and a model for studying microbial virulence. We investigate how pathogens evolve, compete in the gut, respond to diet, and use virulence factors to cause disease. We also study how the immune system defends against infection, aiming to develop new therapies and prevention strategies.
