My lab studies the general principles of cellular lipid homeostasis and how these pathways are critical for neuronal and brain function. We focus on the molecular mechanisms that mediate intracellular transport of cholesterol and phospholipids, as their dysfunction is often linked to neurodegeneration. We employ a highly interdisciplinary approach that combines mammalian cell biology, biochemistry, and C. elegans genetics to tackle this challenge.
