My group has been working on the molecular mechanism and physiological functions of autophagy in yeast. We identified ATG genes essential for starvation-induced autophagy, and discovered protein kinase, PI3 kinase complex, and two ubiquitin- like conjugation systems. We are making efforts to elucidate the molecular details of membrane dynamics during autophagy.
