We are interested in understanding the principles underlying complex adaptive behavior. We integrate fine observations of animal behavior with quantitative, cellular and systems level analysis of underlying neural mechanisms with a theoretical context. Rodents provide flexible models that allow us to monitor and manipulate neural circuits using multiple techniques. Current foci include the serotonin system and decision-making under uncertainty.
